Re:SHARE Questions the Validity of Town Telephone Survey - 2008/10/03 13:26 So I see that to SHARE no other means but the Charrette (at $250-$400K) is a valid one to gauge public opinion. I remain convinced that the Charrette is an elaborate means of providing an illusion of public debate while produceing a pre-determined conclustion.

Why shouldn't the town as other questions about the Airport etc. on the phone survey. And for the town cost is a valid question to ask. At the end of the day development will either add to the tax base or preventing development will cost money directly or through lost tax opportunity. It's even more imporant when residents incomes will likely be reduced from the current financial crisis.

We could have dispensed with the phone survey and done it the old fashioned way, the way real rural towns do it. Throw a town wide barbeque and have the town officials mingle to get opinions. A whole lot friendlier and cheaper.
