Water Heaters - 2008/05/16 16:26 Does anyone have any experience with tankless hot water heaters? I understand I will get better hot water and save on electricity with one.

Re:Water Heaters - 2008/05/16 21:00 Yes! - I installed one about 2 years ago and it has been fantastic. Never without hot water, and you will definitely save $$$ because you're not heating water 24/7 that is not being used.

I'd highly recommend it. We used Avon Plumbing. They're a little pricey, but they've done work for us before and we've been pleased with the results.

Re:Water Heaters - 2008/05/19 18:30 I hear the instant water heaters are great and am researching them myself. If you find one you like, can you post the brand and where you found it?

Thanks

J

Re:Water Heaters - 2008/05/22 18:04 We have done considerable research. The electric service requires installation of a much more powerful service than most homes have. A new circuit would have to run to the house and then to the heater. The propane heater probably saves you more money, but has to be vented to the outside. If you can install it on an outside wall you are lucky. Our furance is propane, but is located in the center of the basement.
John at Avon Plumbing has been very helpful. We drove up to Hatfield, MA where electric heaters from Germany are sold. You then have to get a plumber and a electrician.
Haven't made a final decision, but are leaning to propane.
