With the economy in a marked downturn for the foreseeable future, take a look at what is happening at the mall in Canton. More and more stores are closing. Retail is tanking. Many stores there are now just vacant, and the next step (if at all) will be for more "down-market" stores to come in. You'll see more nail salons, dollar stores, low-end jewelry stores, etc., as opposed to the high-end retailers who came in.

Target is not going to keep operating a store that is not profitable. I can see the Target going in, sales decline with the decreasing disposable income of the populace, and it closes. What goes in? An Ocean State Job Lot, if anything. Joy.

This is not a time for a large-scale retail operation to go in. We'll end up with a dying mall set in a massive field of concrete planted right on Route 10.
