Is it me or does this sound like an example of kicking someone while they're down? I'm sure if other first selectmen were placed under a microscope, we would see some questionable behavior from them as well. I'm not a fan of politics in general but this article makes me question some things;
1. Why are town employees given vacation time, only to have it taken away from them if they cannot use it because they are actually being concientious and doing the job they were hired to do? Should they just get paid for unused time at the end of the year, or be forced to take time off?
2. Why does MG feel the need to use TV as a whipping boy? I agree changes should be made if policies are non-existent or outdated but what good does it do to embarass someone? I think the way this is being handled shows a lack of class but an abundance of junior high mentality.
I agree that people need to be held accountable and that checks and balances be put into place to avoid problems but do it in the proper setting and stop airing our dirty laundry out for all to see. The only purpose it serves is to make Simsbury look bad.
