Simsbury Library - 2008/03/12 12:04 I just discoverd that the Town is seeking bids for a new logo for the town Library. Why is the town paying for this? Couldn't the town ask residents to submit their own ideas for this logo? We have many qualified graphic artists in this town and I'm sure that some would love to donate their services.

I seem to remember during the campaigns for the Office of Selectmen, that someone brought up the idea of using the wealth and knowledge of the residents of Simsbury to help with projects that the town is undertaking. This is a prime example of one of those projects.

The High School also has a great high-tec graphic design program now. Has the town asked the students if they would like to submit their ideas for the new logo? If the town did and they were still not satisfied with the results then I would be in favor of putting this logo out to bid.

Lets cut back on the exhorbant costs in this town and use the resources that we already have. Think outside the box....!

Re:Simsbury Library - 2008/03/12 15:44 Why are you surprised?! As lovely as the new library looks, increasing its size was not necessary based on the amount of people that I've seen there when I've visited. As for needed space for books, if they'd have taken outdated books off the shelves they'd have had plenty of room for new ones. It is my opinion that Sue Bullock thinks the town has a bottomless purse for her library whims. A new logo is peanuts compared to what the renovation cost but I agree that we have enough talented people in this community to do it.
