Re:Mountain Lion? in woods in backyard - 2007/08/23 00:26 I love hearing all these wildlife stories for some reason. On my last day of living in Simsbury last Tuesday there was a bear just walking through my backyard. Then about an hour later we had the local turkey family stroll through the backyard but then a fox jumped out of the woods and the turkeys all flew up into the tree. I think the fox was more interested in the bread crumbs than the turkeys though.

I've only seen a bobcat once and it was awesome to see. My parents said they've seen a mountain lion up behind Smokey Ridge but this was a long time ago and maybe they were mistaking it for a bobcat. Either way, wildlife = awesome

Re:Mountain Lion? in woods in backyard - 2007/08/26 21:09 There are definitely bobcats in town. We had one in our back yard last winter on a couple of occasions. We called the animal control officer who told us there are no bobcats in Simsbury, so we took a picture and e-mailed it to them. They confirmed it was a bobcat, and said they stand corrected.

Bobcats can be dangerous to people and pets. Don't mess with them. Call the animal control people.

As for mountain lions, I've never seen one it town, but I wouldn't doubt it.

Re:Mountain Lion? in woods in backyard - 2008/03/20 14:43 There has been many reports of Cougars/Mountain Lions in CT and the state says there are none. Why would it be so unusual for CT to have cougars living in this state; they live in Vermont and are actually used on their license plates. A friend of mne saw and took pictures a couple of weeks ago of a cougar in his yard in Vermont. I do not think it would be unlikely if they also here in CT.
