Roadside Memorial - 2007/06/06 08:58 On a very delicate topic, I had noticed a roadside memorial along Old Farms Rd. the past two years during the Spring season. It is in front of a tree just south passed Hedgehog Rd, across the street from "The Barn" Church. I have asked a few people and no one seems to know what that incident was. Anyone know? GG

Re:Roadside Memorial - 2007/06/06 17:47 My goodness, I just came from the south end of Old Farms Rd. and there is an accident right near where the road memorial was set up that I was referring to...Everyone seemed OK. As "OK" as they could be considering. I tried not to look too long as the police had their job to do. The car's didn't look like they did too well though... That intersection coming out of Hedgehog turning left has always been a bad one! I'm so glad the young man seemed alright, although he did seem injured he was walking around. The other people looked OK from what I could tell.....I'm so sorry...GG

Re:Roadside Memorial - 2007/06/06 21:12 I can't picture where Hedgehog is...I guess I'm not too smart with the side street names around here. The only accident I've ever been in was the S turn by the high school in the winter time. I guess my dad learned to not have bald tires on his car in the winter time because I totaled his car...but it's ok because I bought the same car and used his for a parts car, haha.

Glad to hear everyone was okay at the accident!

Did you know there's a tumbstone on the side of the road where the Terrys Plain Rd turns into E Weatogue Rd where there's a 3 way intersection? I think it's from the 1800's where a boy was run over by a covered wagon. I used to be afraid of driving past it when I was just a wee lad

Re:Roadside Memorial - 2007/06/06 21:51 Hi Thorgs, Hedgehog Lane is across the street from the Prespaterian (spelling?) Church, The Barn. Don't worry if you don't know where the Church is, you will not be able to miss the long skid marks.
Strange you mentioning about using your Dad's car for parts etc., I was just sharing something very similar with a friend just the other day...although my story did not have a good outcome, the person in question died in another car accident a week later, that one of which was not his fault! The first accident was, same as you, sliding on an icy road in the winter many many years ago. That is why I notice road side memorials. Sadly the town has too many of them, mental signs in the mind where many accidents over the years have happened!
Yes, the tombstones are around Town in a number of places. There's another one across the street from the barber shop on Firetown Road, just to the right going toward the Memorial fields (cant remember the name of that street). GG
