Simsbury History? - 2007/06/03 12:32
Hello again! I have not posted on this site for sometime, however I have like many of you been lurking behind the scenes. Why though? This after all is our town too! I've been living in Simsbury since 73'. I have seen the Town change from the days when just down the road from me were the rows and rows of corn being grown for the cows to feed on, which was replaced years ago by a street now known as Smokey Ridge. Oh, the stories the people of this town have to share! What history! Where are all these people, where are their stories to the community? I remember Hop Meadow street before the new fancy hotels were created, the old grey house, now a hotel which was known to be haunted. When we were teenagers, boy did we have some stories to tell! I love to go into the post office on Hop Meadow street or Roland's barber shop in Tariffville, "The Valley Barber shop", and look at all the pictures from long long ago adorning their walls. Yes the town has changed, some would say for the better, some would not! I know I mostly miss the part of Simsbury history that was taken away due to growth and progress and a changing time! Time to go do some gardening in the yard before the rain comes! GG
