Re:A Moment of Silence - Again - 2007/04/19 22:04
One thing I have been noticing is that a big reason this kid snapped is because other kids teased him a lot. I know how this feels because I was one of those kids getting picked on...even though now I seem really awesome On a serious note though, this is still a sad event that could have been avoided. I think that the root of this kids problems came from peers (the rich people he was referring to) putting him down.
I just remember my first day in 5th grade when I moved here and I remember what kid was making fun of me. He is the reason I will never vote for Heagney for any election. It is, as a child, the worst feeling in the world to get made fun of by others, especially if you're the new kid on the block (not the 90's boy band).
Since I work at the school and remember what it felt like and try to watch for this kind of behavior and put it to rest before the kids get older. Something, I feel, the teachers don't really do.
