Re:Pay for Play is up to $150.00 per child per sport last year it was $75.00 - 2006/10/12 22:39
I didnt know that the music plays cost that much. I know that the sheet that is passed around in the beginning of the year, they try to get as much as $25,000 in donations. Avon's athletic budget was also shy $50,000. and Avon tried to pull a Pay for Play. The parents objected and they found $50,000 for the budget. $50,000 would only cost each household in Simsbury about $2.00 a year.....not alot to ask. I dont understand if this is a TOWNWIDE deficit for the School Budget, then why is it that just the parents of High School students are the ones that have to come up with the money. In other words, while your kids are in grades K thru 8th grade, you dont pay "Pay for Play". They pin this on just the high school kids that play sports. The town was going to abolish sports for the 9th grade and not have a pay for play. This is how out of control the spending is. When you realize that Education is a business just like any other,..it starts to make sense. I know about the Football cards, last year they cost $10.00, this year $20.00 each.
