Re:Selectmen or Selectwoman - 2006/08/25 20:11 I believe the position of selectman has always been a paid position. Mrs. Glassman was paid and it was full time although I did hear that when she first started she tended to leave the office early because of her kids. Its only heresay but I remember thinking that if a man were in that position and did the same thing, people wouldn't stand for it. As for John Rowland, he obviously wasn't getting by on $80,000 a year which is why he saw the inside of a jail cell.
