Mayor is volunteer non paid position - 2006/08/23 18:05 Is it true that when Mary Glassman was mayor, she did not receive a salary? Or what was her salary,..was it a part time position at that time. Is it true that the town of Avon mayor is volunteer? Avon mill rate is approximate 10 points lower than Simsbury.
I do believe that the mayor should be a full time paid position. I do belive that raises should only be earned when mill rates come down to the neighboring towns. I keep hearing how rich the town of Simsbury is,..then why is it that I have to Pay to have my child play sports at school. Sports at school are now alacarte. It is up to 600.00 a year per family for sports.
